Building
Materials
Freight

Lumber · Drywall · Rebar · Roofing · Flatbed & Conestoga

Materials moved from mills, plants, and distribution yards to the yard or the jobsite — tarped, secured, and delivered to a site that can actually unload it.

A Jobsite Is Not a Dock

Building materials freight fails in a specific way: the truck shows up and nobody can unload it. No forklift, no crane, no crew, a driver with no way to get product on the ground, and a detention clock running while somebody makes phone calls.

Book Freight arranges truckload freight for building product manufacturers, lumber and drywall distributors, roofing suppliers, and rebar fabricators. We ask the unglamorous question before the truck is booked — who’s unloading, with what, and when will the site take it — because that’s the question that actually decides whether the load works.

Building Materials Freight FAQ

Can you deliver directly to a jobsite?
Yes, and the first thing we’ll ask is how the site unloads. Forklift, crane, boom truck, or nothing — that answer changes the equipment, the rate, and sometimes whether the delivery is possible at all. Jobsites also have gates, hours, and crews that go home. Give us the window and we’ll build the transit around it.
Do you tarp flatbed loads?
Yes, when the load needs it — and we price it in the quote rather than discovering it at the mill. Tarping takes time and not every driver carries them. For products that shouldn’t be tarped at all, or where you’d rather not pay for a tarp crew, a Conestoga is usually the better answer.
How much drywall or shingles fits on a truck?
Less than you’d think, because dense building materials hit legal weight long before they fill the deck. A truckload of shingles is a weight-limited load, not a volume-limited one. Send the product, the unit count, and the weight and we’ll tell you what actually fits before you plan around a number that doesn’t work.
Can you move rebar and long structural material?
Yes. Fabricated rebar, mesh, joists, and structural steel move on flatbed and step deck with securement matched to the length and weight. Anything past legal dimension goes through our heavy haul operation with permits worked before dispatch.
We’re short on material and holding up a crew. How fast can you move?
Same day in many cases. A crew standing around is expensive, so tell us what’s missing, where it is, and where it needs to be, and we’ll tell you honestly what capacity exists right now.
Do you handle sequenced delivery for a project?
Yes — multi-truck, staged delivery against a construction schedule runs through our project freight side. This page covers the materials themselves; if you need the loads sequenced to a build schedule, that’s a different conversation and we can have it.
Tell us how the site
unloads.
Product, weight, destination, and how it comes off the truck. That’s all we need to give you a number that holds.
